REGION: PACIFIC
SUB REGION: CALIFORNIA
AREA/BLOCK: Southern California 6658
IMAGE DATE: 06-15-2019
IMAGE TIME: 0158 UTC
DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A
MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV
RESOLUTION: 20 meter
LOCATION: 34°19'55" N/119°36'44" W
AREA: 8.75 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020)
CONFIDENCE: Medium-High
REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly had fair to good contrast with its background and extended about 10.4 NM in total length by about 1.0 NM wide at its widest. Additionally, the anomaly appeared to originate from a point source and had many sharp turns. Winds were out of the WNW at 10 KT at the time of the image. Considering the above factors, we have MED-HIGH confidence in this assessment.

UNCERTAINTIES: The source of the anomaly is not entirely certain given the many oil facilities in the region.
