Satellite Source: Sentinel 1A Mode: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV Resolution: 5x20 meter Image Date & Time: 06-18-2018 2335 UTC Confidence: High Issue Date: 06-19-2018 Region: Gulf of Mexico Location: 2501'22" N, 8245'22" W Coverage Area: 0.99 km^2 Remarks: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil, but it is believed to be an oil slick that emanated from the sunken vessel Cudahy. The linear anomaly was approximately 2.67 nm EW and 0.07 nm in width. The dark anomaly had a large contrast to its surrondings and was distinguishable from natural phenomena in the vicinity. The orientation of the anomaly was supported by model ocean currents at the time of the image. Winds were coming from the east at 0-5 kts which also supported the orientation of the anomaly. Uncertainties: There were no uncertainties.
